Yoshida Tea Garden was founded in 1839 (Tenpo 10) in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture.
For over 180 years, we have consistently cultivated and processed tea on this land.

This tour will take you behind the scenes of our tea production, to places usually not open to the public. From our history to soil preparation, cultivation, tea processing, and finally, a cup brewed in our tea house. This is a 4-hour experience where you can fully appreciate the entire tea-making process with all five senses.

Tour Flow

This is an experiential program where you, as our guest, will immerse yourself in the daily scenery of our tea garden.

● Take a breath with a welcome tea
First, refresh yourself with a special cup that symbolizes 180 years of history. Let's start by relaxing while we share our passion for tea making.
● Secrets of Tea and Taste Comparison
We will explain the basics of Japanese tea in an easy-to-understand manner, followed by a tasting of rare varieties. We will reveal why we are so passionate about the "Izumi" phantom variety, exploring its taste and aroma.
● Stroll through the Tea Fields
Step onto the soft soil and explore the vast tea fields. We will provide an engaging explanation of the "mysteries of tea plants" that only farmers know.
● Relaxing Lunch at the Tea House
Enjoy a special lunch prepared exclusively for this day in our serene tea house. Spend a peaceful time surrounded by dishes that enhance the charm of tea.
● Feel the Pulse of the Factory
We will guide you through our sencha workshop, carefully used since the Meiji era, and our state-of-the-art Japanese black tea workshop. You can witness firsthand the intense process of tea production.
● Brew Your Own Unique Cup
We will share professional tips with you. Brew various teas yourself and experience their profound depths. You'll find your tea time at home becomes even more enjoyable.

Participation Fee: 20,000 yen / per person (tax included)

Capacity: Limited to 2 groups per day (1 to a maximum of 6 people per group)

*We prioritize one-on-one interaction in small groups.

Time: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM (approximately 4 hours)

Things to Know

Q: Is it okay if it rains?
Yes, a rainy tea garden is moist and offers a quiet aroma different from sunny days. We will welcome you carefully, minding your footing.
Even if heavy rain prevents us from going out to the tea fields, we have alternative experiences prepared.

Q: About Meals
If you have dietary restrictions, such as vegetarian, please let us know in advance. We will accommodate as much as possible.

Q: About Children
Children under 12 are free, and those 12 and older are charged the same as adults. We hope the whole family can enjoy it.

Reservations and Cancellations

  • Due to preparation, we request reservations by 6:00 PM the day before.
  • Cancellations are free up to 3 days in advance. A 50% fee will be charged for cancellations 2 days to the day before, and 100% on the day of.
